About NHSMUN

I have tried to convince you to sign up for the next NHSMUN as soon as possible, but how are you going to join a club you don't know about.

Shortly, the NHSMUN is a student simulation of the proceedings of the United Nations. Delegates, are assigned a country to represent in one of the UN’s numerous committees with pre-set topics to debate. They research the background of their country, their country's position on the topics at hand, and prepare notes on possible solutions to the problems faced. Much like the real UN, the goal is to identify solutions, by negotiation, on which many countries can agree.

Delegates have to write and pass a resolution, which is a document that describes the actions that they propose to take. This requires countries with very different points of view to discuss their differences and find common ground.

The debates have a procedure in which it establishes the course the debate will flow and rules for making it the most diplomatic as possible.

World Health, Human Rights, Environmental Programme and Finances are just some of the several committees available.
